PEACE RIVER: COMING SOON FROM FLA HISTORICAL SOCIETY PRESS
Merritt scowled. “Send someone else to Florida in my place.”
The big man had had enough. The wood joints of his chair squealed, and he grunted as he pried himself out. His massive frame filled the window behind him, blocking the sunlight and turning him to a silhouette as he towered over Merritt. “Son, I sent someone to the war in your place. And you did not miss a pint. No. Not this time.”
In Peace River, two men’s lives take different arcs. One descends from innocent immigrant to savage survivor. The other turns from spoiled worthlessness to merit. The paths eventually collide amid murder and the tragedy and carnage of the U.S. Civil War.
