In the South Florida of the 1920s, Prohibition is a joke. There’s an open coastline just a few hours’ boat ride from the British docks in the British docks in the Bahamas, and wealthy society swells, gangsters and tourists will pay handsomely for a drink. The suppliers become folk heroes and the lawman the villain.

Nate Moran’s colleague is murdered by a rumrunner who later walks on a technicality He helps bring to justice a high-seas pirate and murderer in Fort Lauderdale and helps bust up a notorious gang of moonshiners, rumrunners, and robbers. He learns a close colleague has gone to the other side. He has a final showdown with that rumrunner who gunned down that federal agent and walked. And he must solve a murder in a secret room of a Palm Beach hotel where the rich and entitled can drink: Hypocrite’s Row.
